Nikon's compact 60mm D-type macro — true 1:1 with screw-drive AF for macro and portrait work.
The Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D is Nikon's compact macro lens providing true 1:1 life-size magnification at 60mm. The D designation adds distance information for flash metering. It has served as a versatile macro and short portrait lens for decades.
Optically excellent at macro distances — sharp and well-corrected. Also performs well as a general-purpose short telephoto. The 60mm focal length provides moderate working distance at 1:1. Screw-drive AF via camera body motor — no AF on entry-level DSLRs without AF motor.
Nikon F mount with 62mm filter thread. Approximately 440g. No VR stabilisation. Full-frame coverage. Minimum focus distance 21.9cm at 1:1. D-type distance communication. CRC for close-range correction. Internal focus design.
Available used at budget to mid-range prices. The AF-S Micro 60mm f/2.8G ED improved with AF-S motor and Nano Crystal coating. The D version requires body AF motor. A compact and sharp macro lens — excellent on mirrorless via FTZ adapter where MF with peaking is easy.
