The Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D was released in 1993 as the standard macro prime for Nikon F-mount, providing 1:1 life-size magnification at 0.22m. Eight elements in 7 groups. Seven aperture blades. 62mm filter thread. At 440g. 0.22m MFD at 1:1. D-type autofocus.

The AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D is Nikon's standard-macro focal length for the F system: 60mm provides 90mm equivalent perspective on APS-C for a moderate working distance from small subjects. The D-type encoding provides subject distance information to compatible Nikon bodies for 3D matrix metering. The 1:1 native magnification at 0.22m enables life-size macro photography.
