Nikon's lightweight push-pull AF zoom from the early autofocus era — screw-drive, plastic, basic optics.
The Nikon AF Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 (1986) is an early Nikon autofocus zoom from the transition period when Nikon was introducing AF to the F-mount system. It uses screw-drive AF powered by the camera body's motor.
Soft by modern standards. Variable f/3.3-4.5 aperture is unimpressive. Screw-drive AF is functional on bodies with built-in motors but slow and noisy. Push-pull zoom mechanism — some photographers find this faster in practice than ring zooms.
Nikon F mount, 52mm filter thread. Screw-drive AF — no motor in the lens. Will not autofocus on D3xxx or D5xxx bodies. Push-pull zoom design. Plastic construction. 240g lightweight.
Very common and nearly worthless used. Only worth considering if bundled free with a body. Any modern AF-S or AF-P kit zoom is vastly superior in every measurable way.
