Nikon's popular DX superzoom kit lens — 27-157.5mm equiv with ED glass for D90 and D7000.
The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED is a popular superzoom kit lens for Nikon DX DSLRs, covering 27-157.5mm equivalent. Commonly bundled with the D90 and D7000, it provided a versatile step up from the 18-55mm.
Optically good for a kit zoom — sharper than the 18-55mm with ED glass for better chromatic aberration control. AF-S motor works on all DX bodies. The 27-157.5mm equivalent range covers standard to moderate telephoto without lens changes.
Nikon F mount, DX format with 67mm filter thread. Approximately 420g. No weather sealing. No VR stabilisation — the VR version (18-105mm VR) is different. ED glass. Minimum focus distance 45cm.
Available used very cheaply. Note: this is the non-VR version — the 18-105mm VR is preferred. The 18-140mm VR provides more range with VR. For DX users wanting more range than 18-55mm at budget cost. Check if this is the VR or non-VR version.
