The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED was released in 2013 as the professional wide-angle zoom for Nikon F-mount full-frame and DX bodies, covering 18-35mm with internal focusing and Silent Wave Motor. At 385g and 77mm filter thread it is very compact for a full-frame ultra-wide zoom. Seven rounded aperture blades. 0.28m MFD at all zoom positions.

The 385g weight is the AF-S 18-35mm G's practical advantage: it is among the lightest full-frame AF ultra-wide zooms for Nikon F bodies, providing the 27-52.5mm DX equivalent range or the 18-35mm full-frame range at minimal carry weight. The ED and aspherical elements target the chromatic aberration and distortion that are the primary correction challenges at ultra-wide focal lengths.
