The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED was released approximately 2014 as a fast ultra-wide prime for Nikon F-mount full-frame cameras, providing f/1.8 for astrophotography, low-light architecture, and available-light environmental portraiture. G-type; AF-S; ED glass. Nikon F mount.

f/1.8 maximum aperture. 24mm focal length. G-type (no aperture ring). AF-S (silent wave motor). ED (extra-low dispersion) element. 11 elements in 9 groups. 72mm filter thread. At approximately 355g. Nikon F mount.

The ED element reduces chromatic aberration at f/1.8 — important for high-contrast subjects at wide apertures. At 355g, the 24mm f/1.8G is notably lighter than the comparable 24mm f/1.4G (620g), making it a practical everyday ultra-wide. Suited to astrophotography: the 24mm field and f/1.8 aperture enable short-exposure Milky Way shots.
