The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4D IF-ED II is a second-generation update to Nikon's professional 600mm super-telephoto prime in the AF-S D-type era, providing silent wave motor autofocus and internal focusing for wildlife and sports photography on Nikon F-mount cameras. Nikon F mount.

f/4 constant aperture. 600mm focal length. AF-S (Silent Wave Motor for fast, in-lens AF). IF (internal focusing). ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. D-type (distance data chip). Nikon F mount. At approximately 5,080g. Tripod collar. Drop-in rear filter slot.

The internal focusing maintains constant length during focus travel and prevents front element rotation. The AF-S silent wave motor provides significantly faster and quieter AF tracking than earlier body-driven super-telephotos. ED elements reduce chromatic aberration at f/4 at the 600mm focal length. The D-type chip enables 3D colour matrix metering and iTTL flash calculation on compatible bodies.
