Nikon's 1975 prosumer manual-focus film SLR with centre-weighted TTL metering — the refined second generation of the FT line.

The Nikon Nikkormat FT2 (1975) is a consumer-tier mechanical 35mm SLR from Nikon's Nikkormat line — designed as a more affordable alternative to the professional F-series while accepting the same F-mount Nikkor lenses. The FT2 added AI lens coupling to the Nikkormat system.

35mm manual SLR, Nikon F mount, centre-weighted TTL metering, fully mechanical shutter (1–1/1000s), AI coupling with compatible lenses. Solid metal construction.

The Nikkormat FT2 accepts all Nikon AI and pre-AI (with adapter fork removed) lenses — providing access to the full Nikkor legacy glass ecosystem. The mechanical shutter operates battery-free (metering requires batteries). As a sturdy, reliable manual SLR, the FT2 remains a practical film photography tool and a platform for adapting Nikkor glass. Compare: the FT3 succeeded it with minor improvements.
