Nikon's versatile full-frame superzoom for Z-mount covering the essential travel range.
The Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR is Nikon's do-everything travel zoom for the Z-mount system, launched in 2020. Covering a remarkable 24-200mm range with VR and weather sealing, it eliminates the need for multiple lenses for most travel photography. It was designed as the one-lens travel solution for Z5, Z6, and Z7 owners.
Optical quality is good for a superzoom with sharp results at moderate focal lengths. Performance softens at the extremes as expected for an 8.3x zoom ratio. VR provides approximately 4.5 stops. The stepping motor provides quiet AF for video. Build is weather sealed at 570g.
Nikon Z mount for full-frame bodies, 67mm filter thread. This competes with the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD which offers a faster but more variable aperture. The Z 24-120mm f/4 S offers better optics in a shorter range. The 24-200mm is for maximum versatility.
Good value used. Check VR operation across the full zoom range and sharpness at 200mm. The weather sealing is a practical advantage for travel. The optical compromises are the price for extreme versatility — for critical work the Z 24-70mm and Z 70-200mm separate zooms are better.
