Nikon's constant-aperture standard zoom for Z-mount, a compact and sharp f/4 option.
The Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 S was one of three launch lenses for the Z system in 2018. As an S-Line lens it delivers optical quality well beyond its f/4 positioning, with sharpness that embarrasses many f/2.8 competitors. It is compact, lightweight, and an excellent travel companion.
Optical quality is outstanding for a constant f/4 zoom — sharper than many f/2.8 alternatives in the corners. Build is weather sealed with quality feel. There is no VR as wide-to-normal zooms typically rely on body IBIS. The lens is well-balanced on all Z bodies.
Nikon Z mount only, 72mm filter thread. The Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S offers a wider aperture at much greater size and cost. The Z 24-120mm f/4 S covers more range. The 24-70mm f/4 S remains the compact quality option.
Excellent value used. Check weather seals and AF motor. The optical quality at this price point is remarkable. Arguably the best value standard zoom in the Z system for photographers who don't need f/2.8.
