Nikon's ultra-compact Z-mount wide pancake — 26mm at f/2.8 in near-body-cap dimensions.
The Nikon Z 26mm f/2.8 launched in 2023 as Nikon's most compact Z-mount lens, providing 26mm in near-pancake dimensions. The slightly wider-than-28mm perspective offers a useful wide view in the smallest possible full-frame Z-mount package.
Optically good — sharp from f/4 with decent performance at f/2.8. Not S-line but performs well for the near-pancake size. Stepping motor AF is quiet. The 26mm perspective is slightly wider than 28mm — a subtle but useful difference for environmental shooting.
Nikon Z mount with 52mm filter thread. Weighs just 125g — the lightest Z-mount lens. No weather sealing. Minimum focus distance 20cm. Plastic construction. No control ring. Available in standard black.
Available used at budget prices. The most compact way to make a Z-mount camera pocketable. The Z 28mm f/2.8 is slightly longer and 30g heavier. Not S-line but adequate for casual and travel use. Outstanding paired with the Z5 or Zf for a compact travel setup.
