The Nikon Nikkor Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S was released in 2022 as a compact super-telephoto prime for Nikon Z-mount, providing 400mm at f/4.5 in a significantly lighter package than traditional 400mm f/4 and f/2.8 super-telephotos. S-line designation. 5.5-stop VR. At 1,245g with tripod collar and 95mm filter thread. Minimum focus distance of 2.5m. Compatible with Z 1.4x and 2x teleconverters.

The optical design uses 19 elements in 13 groups including 1 ED, 2 Super ED, and 1 SR (short wavelength refractive) element. Nine aperture blades. The 95mm filter thread.
