Nikon's compact APS-C mirrorless aimed at vloggers and content creators, with 20.9MP sensor and no EVF.
The Nikon Z30 was released in 2022 as the most compact and affordable APS-C body in the Nikon Z-mount lineup, omitting the electronic viewfinder to reduce size and cost for the target content creation and vlogging use case. The 20.9MP DX BSI CMOS sensor provides 4K/30fps video and 11fps stills. A tiltable LCD is the only display — no EVF. At approximately 405g with battery it is the lightest Nikon Z body.
The 20.9MP DX BSI CMOS sensor pairs with EXPEED 6. Burst shooting runs at 11fps. 4K/30fps is available; 1080p/120fps provides slow-motion capability. No electronic viewfinder — tiltable LCD display only. Battery life approximately 350 shots using the EN-EL25. Body weight approximately 405g with battery and card, single SD UHS-I slot.
The Z30's EVF omission reflects its content creation focus: the camera is typically operated at arm's length or on a tripod for vlogging, live streaming, or overhead shots rather than held to the eye. The tiltable screen enables self-facing vlogging and low-angle shooting. At 405g the Z30 is significantly lighter than the EVF-equipped Zfc. The Z-mount provides access to the full Nikon Z lens system including full-frame optics operating in DX crop mode.
On the used market the Nikon Z30 is affordable as a compact Nikon Z APS-C body. Condition checks: EN-EL25 battery health — specific to the Z30 and Zfc — single SD UHS-I slot contacts, and LCD tilt hinge condition. The Nikon Zfc provides the same sensor with an EVF and retro design at a higher price. Compatible with all Nikon Z-mount lenses; Nikon F lenses via the FTZ adapter.
