Nikon's updated full-frame mirrorless with dual processors, dual cards, and improved AF.
The Nikon Z6 II launched in late 2020 as a meaningful update to the Z6. Adding dual EXPEED 6 processors addressed the original's buffer limitations, while dual card slots solved the single-XQD criticism. Improved AF with eye and animal detection brought it closer to Sony and Canon competitors.
Key features include the 24.5MP BSI sensor, dual processors for improved burst buffer, dual card slots using CFexpress plus SD, eye and animal detect AF, 5-axis IBIS, 4K 60fps video, and the same excellent ergonomics and EVF as the Z6.
The Z6 II addressed the two biggest Z6 criticisms: single card slot and buffer depth. It is praised as a well-rounded camera for weddings, events, and general photography. AF tracking has improved but still lags Canon R6 and Sony A7 III/IV in some scenarios.
Good value used. Check both card slots, IBIS operation, and AF tracking performance. The Z6 III has since been announced with further improvements. The Z6 II remains one of the best value full-frame mirrorless cameras available.
