Nikon's retro-styled APS-C Z-mount body with heritage design and modern internals.
The Nikon Zfc was released in July 2021 as a retro-styled DX Z-mount mirrorless body, adopting the visual design language of the Nikon FM2 film camera with physical top-plate dials for ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation. Beneath the FM2-inspired exterior it uses the same 20.9MP DX BSI CMOS sensor and 209-point hybrid AF system as the Z 50, with a side-opening flip-out screen suited to self-facing recording. The retro design provides direct tactile dial control without menu navigation.
The 20.9MP DX BSI CMOS sensor pairs with the EXPEED 6 processor. The 209-point hybrid phase-detection AF system covers 87% of the sensor area. Burst shooting runs at 11fps. 4K video records at up to 30fps with a 1.5x crop from the DX sensor. The flip-out side screen opens for self-facing vlogging. No in-body image stabilisation. Battery life approximately 300 shots using the EN-EL25, body weight approximately 445g with battery and card, single SD UHS-I slot.
The physical top-plate dials are the Zfc's defining design feature: ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation can be set without entering the menu system, providing the direct tactile workflow of the FM2 in a modern mirrorless body. The DX sensor provides the Z-mount's native lens ecosystem with the 1.5x crop factor. The flip-out screen addresses content creation workflows where the Z 50's fixed flip-down screen requires the body to face upward for self-facing framing.
On the used market the Zfc is available at Z-mount APS-C retro body pricing. Condition checks: physical dial operation for all three exposure controls, EN-EL25 battery health, flip-out screen hinge, and SD slot. The EN-EL25 is shared with the Z 50. The Nikon Z 50 provides the same sensor in a standard ergonomics design with a flip-down screen. Compatible with all Nikon Z-mount lenses; F-mount lenses autofocus via the FTZ adapter.
