Olympus C-5060 Wide Zoom — 5.1MP digital compact with wide 27-110mm equivalent zoom, 2003
The C-5060 Wide Zoom was one of Olympus's more capable Camedia compacts, announced in 2003 for enthusiasts wanting extra resolution and a wider lens than typical compacts of the time offered. It sat toward the top of the Camedia range alongside the C-8080.
It uses a 5.1-megapixel 1/1.8-inch CCD sensor behind a 27-110mm equivalent lens at f/2.8-4.8, wider at the short end than most rivals. A 1.8-inch, 130,000-pixel LCD assists composition, and it stores to xD-Picture Card, CompactFlash, or Microdrive.
The wide-angle starting point made it useful for interiors and landscapes where typical 35mm-equivalent compacts struggled, while its larger 1/1.8-inch sensor gave cleaner results than smaller-sensor rivals in dimmer conditions. Manual exposure modes add creative control.
Used prices are modest; check the lens barrel for smooth zoom and focus travel, confirm the CompactFlash slot reads cards without error, and inspect the LCD hinge and screen for scratches common on cameras of this age.
