Entry-level Four Thirds DSLR camera body with built-in image stabilization.
The Olympus E-510, released in 2007, was a mid-range entry in Olympus's Four Thirds DSLR system, featuring the world's first in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) in a consumer DSLR — Olympus's IS system worked with any mounted lens, not just stabilised lenses. It used the Four Thirds bayonet mount and accepted all Zuiko Digital Four Thirds lenses.
Four Thirds bayonet mount, 10MP Live MOS sensor, in-body image stabilisation (IS), live view via tilting LCD, ISO 100–1600, 3fps burst, compatible with all Zuiko Digital Four Thirds lenses.
The E-510's in-body IS was a landmark feature — stabilisation worked with all Four Thirds lenses including legacy Zuiko glass, not requiring specially designed stabilised lenses. The tilting live view LCD was also advanced for its time. Four Thirds lenses can be used on Micro Four Thirds bodies via MMF adapters with some limitations.
Test IBIS function across all focal lengths on compatible lenses. Check sensor for dust. Verify Four Thirds mount engagement. Test the live view function. Check battery availability for this older model. Confirm the tilting LCD hinge operates smoothly.
