Olympus's fast wide-angle prime for MFT, a 24mm equivalent with premium optics.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 is a premium wide-angle prime for Micro Four Thirds, launched in 2011. Providing a 24mm equivalent perspective at f/2, it is one of the most respected MFT primes for street photography, landscape, and travel. It was one of the first premium MFT primes to demonstrate the system's optical potential.
Optical quality is very good with sharp results across the frame from f/2.8 and usable sharpness wide open. ED glass elements control chromatic aberration. The snap-focus mechanism allows instant switching to manual focus with distance markings for zone focusing, beloved by street photographers. Build is mostly metal with quality feel.
Micro Four Thirds mount only, 46mm filter thread. An optional metal lens hood is sold separately and highly recommended. The Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 ASPH. is a faster alternative at a significantly higher price.
Good value used. Check the snap-focus mechanism, AF motor, and front element. The lens is well-built with few common issues. An excellent street photography lens for MFT shooters who appreciate the 24mm wide-angle perspective.
