Olympus's versatile MFT superzoom covering 28-300mm equivalent in one compact lens.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II is a superzoom for Micro Four Thirds covering an impressive 28-300mm equivalent range. Launched around 2015 as a refresh of the original, it pairs with OM-D and PEN bodies as a travel lens that eliminates the need for lens changes.
Optical quality is reasonable for a 10.7x zoom ratio with decent centre sharpness across most of the range. Corners soften at the extremes as expected. There is no optical stabilisation so it relies entirely on body IBIS. Build is compact and lightweight with a dust and splash resistant design matching weather-sealed bodies.
Micro Four Thirds mount only, 58mm filter thread. The Mark II improved weather resistance and coatings over the original. For better telephoto quality the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO is in another league but at three times the weight and price.
Good value used as a travel lens. Check zoom ring smoothness and electronic contacts. The convenience of a 10.7x range in one small lens makes this ideal for travel where changing lenses is impractical. Optical quality trades off against versatility.
