Olympus's budget MFT telephoto — 80-300mm equiv at variable aperture, a basic consumer tele zoom.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4-5.6 is a budget telephoto zoom for Micro Four Thirds, covering 80-300mm equivalent. Often bundled as a second kit lens, it provides basic telephoto reach in a compact lightweight package.
Optically basic — acceptable centre sharpness at mid-focal lengths but soft at 150mm. No image stabilisation — relies on body IBIS. Autofocus is adequate for general use. The 80-300mm equivalent range covers casual wildlife and sports.
Micro Four Thirds mount with 58mm filter thread. Approximately 190g — very lightweight. No weather sealing. Minimum focus distance 90cm. Plastic construction. Available in black and silver finishes.
Extremely cheap used — often bundled free with cameras. The 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO or f/4 PRO are dramatically better. The Panasonic 45-175mm PZ adds power zoom. Only worth using if obtained free or at throwaway prices.
