Olympus's flagship ultra-wide zoom for MFT, a constant f/2.8 with no filter thread.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO is Olympus's flagship ultra-wide zoom, launched around 2015. Covering a dramatic 14-28mm equivalent range at a constant f/2.8, it delivers professional wide-angle performance in a package far smaller than equivalent full-frame lenses. It completes the PRO trinity with the 12-40mm and 40-150mm.
Optical quality is outstanding with exceptional sharpness and minimal distortion for such a wide-angle zoom. The f/2.8 aperture is valuable for astrophotography and low-light environments. Build is fully weather sealed and freeze-proof. Autofocus is fast and accurate.
Micro Four Thirds mount only. No front filter thread due to the bulbous front element — there is a rear filter slot for gelatin filters. This limits the use of traditional screw-on ND and polarising filters. The Panasonic Leica DG 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 accepts front filters but is slower.
Holds value well used. Check the bulbous front element very carefully for any scratches or impacts. Test weather seal integrity around the mount. The inability to use front filters is the main practical limitation. One of the finest ultra-wide zooms in any format.
