Olympus's original MFT ultra-wide — same as ID 1770 Four Thirds version or early MFT version.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 is the original Micro Four Thirds ultra-wide zoom covering 18-36mm equivalent. It provided compact ultra-wide coverage for the early MFT system with a retractable design collapsing to near-pancake dimensions.
Optically adequate with ED glass controlling chromatic aberration across the ultra-wide range. Variable f/4-5.6 aperture. The retractable design was innovative — collapsing for transport. The Mark II (ID 1259) improved coatings and AF motor.
Micro Four Thirds mount with 52mm filter thread at approximately 155g — incredibly lightweight for an ultra-wide zoom. No weather sealing. No OIS — relies on body IBIS. Retractable design collapses to compact profile. 25cm minimum focus distance.
Available used very cheaply — the most affordable MFT ultra-wide option. The Mark II improved but costs more. For budget MFT ultra-wide use where size matters most. The retractable mechanism adds a deployment step before shooting.
