12MP 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS. 25-100mm equivalent zoom (4x), f/2.0 (wide) to f/4.9 (tele). 4K/30fps; 1080/60fps; 720/120fps. Natively waterproof to 15m (OlympusTough IPX8). Shock-proof to 2.1m. Freeze-proof to -10°C. Crush-proof to 100kgf. 250g with battery and card. Fixed zoom; no interchangeable mount.
The f/2.0 wide-end aperture is the TG-5's headline capability for a rugged compact: at 25mm and f/2.0, the TG-5 captures underwater subjects in low ambient light where f/2.8 alternatives would require flash or higher ISO. The dedicated underwater modes (including Microscope mode for extreme close-up) are designed specifically for marine photography. The 4K adds video capability over the TG-4's 1080p maximum.
On the used market the Olympus Tough TG-5 is affordable as a rugged compact. Condition checks: waterproof seal condition (inspect all port covers), lens element for scratches, battery health. 15m native waterproof. Fixed zoom; no interchangeable mount.
