35mm film compact camera. Fixed Zuiko 35mm f/2.8 lens. Aperture-priority exposure. Zone focus (not AF). Sliding clamshell cover encloses lens for pocket carry. At approximately 225g. Fixed lens — no interchangeable mount.
The XA's clamshell sliding cover completely protects the lens when pocketed — the same mechanism that covers the lens also arms the shutter. Zone focus is set by estimated subject distance. The XA is paired commonly with the A11 accessory flash (clips to the side). Excellent optical quality for its compact size.
On the used market the Olympus XA is a highly regarded ultra-compact film camera. Condition checks: Zuiko 35mm lens element condition, clamshell cover mechanism (must slide smoothly and open fully), aperture-priority operation. Fixed lens — no interchangeable mount.
