Six elements in 5 groups. Six aperture blades. The 49mm filter thread. At approximately 165g. Minimum focus distance of 0.45m. Manual focus only. f/1.8 maximum aperture. Full-frame coverage. Olympus OM bayonet mount.
The Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 was the standard kit prime for the Olympus OM-system: the compact, lightweight formula provided a fast standard perspective on OM film bodies. Multiple variants were produced (Auto-S, with S.C. and MC multi-coating updates) with minor formula differences. The OM mount uses a bayonet with clockwise-release convention, opposite to most other bayonet mounts.
On the used market the Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 OM is very affordable as a vintage manual-focus standard prime. Condition checks: focus helicoid smoothness, 49mm front element for marks, aperture blades for oil. Manual focus only. Compatible with Olympus OM-mount film and digital bodies (with OM-E adapter for modern digital systems).
