Rare mechanical Olympus OM film SLR with multi-spot metering — fully mechanical shutter works without batteries.
The Olympus OM-3 is one of the rarest OM bodies. Produced in small numbers from 1983, it shares the OM-4's multi-spot averaging meter but drives the shutter entirely mechanically — working without batteries for all shutter functions.
The multi-spot system lets you take multiple spot readings and average them — a sophisticated precursor to modern evaluative metering. Titanium shutter curtain rated to 1/2000s. Build is compact, dense, and beautifully finished.
Olympus OM mount, all Zuiko lenses compatible. Battery powers the meter only — shutter, advance, and all mechanical functions operate independently. No TTL flash — the OM-4 added this. Slightly heavier than OM-1.
Extremely rare, commanding collector prices. Inspect the meter carefully — the multi-spot system is complex and failure is hard to repair. Verify shutter speeds mechanically. The OM-4 Ti is more available and adds TTL flash.
