The Panasonic AG-DVX200, announced at NAB 2015, is a deliberate spiritual successor to the legendary DVX100 - down to the name and the distinctive dark-red finish that makes it instantly recognisable used.
Uniquely it puts a large 4/3-type sensor behind an integrated Leica Dicomar 13x servo zoom, recording DCI 4K 24p and UHD to 50/60p with V-Log L and around 12 stops of dynamic range, in a 2.7kg body with full pro ergonomics.
The only camcorder of its generation with a Four Thirds sensor behind a fixed zoom - shallow depth of field without lens swaps - bridging the GH4 and EVA1 with a cult following from the DVX heritage.
Used buying: check the burgundy paint for edge wear, run a pixel refresh and inspect dark frames for stuck pixels (a known niggle), verify final firmware, test the zoom servo (uneconomical to repair), and check both SD slots at UHS speeds with 4K 60p.
