Panasonic's 2009 FS-line compact — 12MP CCD, Leica 5x 29-145mm-class zoom, MEGA O.I.S.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 was announced in January 2009 at the top of that year's FS budget ultra-compact range, offering a slightly wider and longer lens than the models below it. It went on sale from February 2009 in silver, black and blue at around 199 dollars.
It uses a 12.1-megapixel 1/2.33in CCD with a Leica DC Vario-Elmar 5x zoom starting at a wide 29mm equivalent, stabilised by MEGA O.I.S. Sensitivity spans ISO 100-6400, the LCD is 2.7in, 50MB of memory is built in alongside SD card storage, and video records at WVGA 848x480 or VGA 640x480 at 30fps.
It is an uncomplicated pocket camera for beginners and everyday snapshots, with AF tracking, face detection and Intelligent Auto doing the deciding. The 29mm wide end is handy indoors, while standard-definition-only video and small-sensor noise date it — treat it as a daylight stills compact.
Confirm the proprietary battery and charger come with it and the pack still holds charge, and check the extending lens for smooth travel and the screen for scratches. It predates HD video, which keeps prices modest, so condition and a working battery matter more than cosmetics.
