The Lumix DMC-LS1 is the first model in Panasonic's entry-level LS series, launched in 2005 as a simple AA-battery-powered compact aimed at first-time digital camera buyers.
It has a 4.0-megapixel 1/2.5-inch CCD sensor behind a Leica-branded 3x optical zoom lens covering roughly a 32-96mm equivalent range, with optical image stabilisation. A 1.5-inch LCD handles composition and review, and images are stored on SD cards.
Its modest resolution and small screen reflect its position as a budget starter camera rather than an enthusiast tool, with automatic exposure covering nearly every shooting situation.
These now sell for very little used and mostly suit collectors or absolute beginners; check the battery contacts for corrosion, confirm the small LCD is undamaged, and test the zoom lens for smooth, quiet operation.
