Panasonic's ultra-compact MFT pancake — 28mm equiv at f/2.5, one of the smallest interchangeable lenses made.
The Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f/2.5 ASPH. launched in 2010 as a true pancake prime for Micro Four Thirds, providing 28mm equivalent at f/2.5. At just 15.5mm thick, it is one of the thinnest interchangeable lenses ever made — barely protruding from the camera body.
Optically good for a pancake — sharp from f/4 with acceptable performance at f/2.5. Aspherical elements help control distortion. The 28mm equivalent perspective is useful for street and everyday shooting. AF is quiet and reasonably fast for general use.
Micro Four Thirds mount with 46mm filter thread. Weighs just 55g — near-body-cap dimensions. No weather sealing. No stabilisation — relies on body IBIS. Minimum focus distance 18cm. Mark II version improved AF and reduced size slightly.
Available used very cheaply. The tiny size paired with small MFT bodies creates an ultra-portable package barely larger than a compact camera. The Olympus 17mm f/1.8 is optically superior but much larger. An essential lens for maximising MFT portability.
