Panasonic's versatile MFT kit zoom with extended range and built-in stabilisation.
The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. Power O.I.S. is a versatile standard-to-telephoto zoom for Micro Four Thirds, covering a 24-120mm equivalent range. Introduced around 2016, it was designed as a do-everything kit lens for Panasonic G-series bodies, offering more range than the typical 12-32mm kit lens.
Optical quality is good for a consumer zoom with decent sharpness across the range. The aspherical element helps control distortion. Power O.I.S. provides built-in stabilisation which works in combination with body IBIS on supported Panasonic cameras. The lens is compact and lightweight despite the extended zoom range.
Micro Four Thirds mount only, 58mm filter thread. This should not be confused with the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 which is a completely different and superior lens with a faster aperture. The Lumix version is the budget option with a slower aperture.
Affordable used. Check Power O.I.S. operation, zoom ring smoothness, and AF motor. The extended 12-60mm range makes this a practical one-lens solution for travel. For better optical quality the Leica DG 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 is a significant upgrade but at a much higher price.
