Panasonic's early MFT kit zoom — 28-90mm equiv with Mega OIS for the original G-series cameras.
The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. Mega O.I.S. is an early kit zoom for Micro Four Thirds, covering 28-90mm equivalent. It was bundled with some of the first G-series bodies as a versatile starter lens.
Optically adequate — sharp enough in the centre for general use. Mega O.I.S. stabilisation. The 14-45mm range provides slightly more reach than the later 14-42mm versions. Aspherical elements. Adequate for beginners.
Micro Four Thirds mount with 52mm filter thread. Approximately 195g. No weather sealing. Mega O.I.S. Minimum focus distance 30cm. An early MFT zoom that helped establish the system.
Available used very cheaply. The 14-42mm versions are more common and compact. The extra 3mm at the long end (90mm vs 84mm equiv) is minimal. Only useful at throwaway prices. Check for smooth zoom action.
