Panasonic's original 10x travel zoom for MFT — HD-optimised video design with Mega O.I.S. stabilisation.
The Panasonic 14-140mm f/4-5.8 HD Mega O.I.S. (2009) was the first 10x superzoom for Micro Four Thirds. The HD designation indicates optimisation for video with minimal focus breathing and smooth AF transitions — key priorities for Panasonic's MFT vision.
Adequate sharpness for a first-generation MFT superzoom. Soft at the long end wide open. Mega O.I.S. stabilisation. Internal focus design. The later Mark II (14-140mm f/3.5-5.6) improved optics and reduced weight significantly.
Micro Four Thirds mount, 62mm filter thread. 28-280mm equivalent. Internal zoom — barrel does not extend. 460g weight — heavy for MFT. HD video optimisation was pioneering in 2009.
Available very cheaply used. The Mark II version is lighter and sharper — worth the premium. Check OIS for smooth operation. A practical travel lens that has been surpassed by newer MFT superzooms.
