Panasonic's entry MFT with touchscreen — 16.1MP with vari-angle LCD and 1080p video.
The Panasonic Lumix G3 was released approximately 2011 as a compact Micro Four Thirds mirrorless featuring a 16MP sensor and an articulating touchscreen — one of the first MFT bodies with a tilting touch-to-focus display. 1080p/25fps AVCHD video. Electronic viewfinder. DMW-BLC12 battery. At approximately 336g.
16MP Micro Four Thirds CMOS. 1080p/25fps AVCHD — no 4K. 3-inch tilting touchscreen (460k dots). EVF (0.70× equivalent). Touch AF. DMW-BLC12 battery. At approximately 336g with battery. Micro Four Thirds mount.
The G3 introduced tilting touch-to-focus in the G-series: the touchscreen AF enable touch selection of focus point on the rear display, which was a novel control method for 2011. The compact body with EVF provided both viewing options. The 1080p/25fps AVCHD predates 4K — the MFT system gained 4K with the GH4 in 2014.
On the used market the Panasonic Lumix G3 is very affordable as a vintage MFT mirrorless. Condition checks: DMW-BLC12 battery health, tilting LCD hinge, EVF display quality, sensor for dust. 1080p/25fps video — no 4K. Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses.
