Panasonic's mid-range MFT with WiFi — 16.1MP, EVF, and NFC in a compact DSLR-style body.
The Panasonic Lumix G6 launched in 2013 as a mid-range Micro Four Thirds camera adding WiFi and NFC to the G-series line. It used a 16.1MP Live MOS sensor with improved Venus Engine processing in a compact DSLR-styled body.
The 16.1MP sensor delivers good MFT image quality for its era. DFD contrast-detect AF. Full HD 1080p 60fps video. WiFi and NFC — first G-series with wireless. Touch AF via the articulating screen. Decent low-light performance to ISO 3200.
Compact body at 390g with built-in EVF and articulating touchscreen. 3-inch vari-angle LCD. WiFi and NFC. Built-in flash. Hot shoe. Micro Four Thirds mount — full lens ecosystem access. Single SD card slot.
Available used very cheaply. The G7 added 4K video — a transformative upgrade. The G6 was a solid MFT camera of its era. WiFi was a welcome addition. For budget MFT entry where 4K isn't needed. Check for smooth operation.
