Panasonic's early premium MFT — one of the first with HD video and articulating screen.
The Panasonic Lumix GF1 launched in 2009 as one of the first compact premium Micro Four Thirds cameras — bridging the gap between compact cameras and larger DSLRs. It was one of the earliest MFT cameras to attract enthusiast attention.
The 12.1MP Live MOS sensor delivers decent MFT quality for 2009. 23-area contrast-detect AF. 3fps burst. 720p HD video — advanced for MFT at launch. Touch capabilities not yet present. The GF1 helped prove MFT viability.
Compact body at 285g with no EVF built in — optional LVF1 hotshoe EVF. 3-inch fixed LCD. Hot shoe. Built-in flash. WiFi not included. Micro Four Thirds mount. Single SD card slot.
Available used very cheaply. One of the cameras that helped establish MFT as a serious system. Any modern MFT camera is dramatically better. Historical interest as an early premium compact mirrorless. Check for smooth operation.
