Panasonic's compact MFT camera with 12.1MP sensor and touchscreen — simple entry-level design.
The Panasonic Lumix GF5 launched in 2012 as a compact entry-level Micro Four Thirds camera targeting upgraders from compact cameras. It featured a 12.1MP Live MOS sensor with improved AF and a simplified touch-focused interface.
The 12.1MP sensor delivers decent MFT image quality for its era. 23-area contrast-detect AF. 4fps burst. 1080i Full HD video — interlaced only. Touch shutter and touch AF on the 3-inch touchscreen. Simple, approachable interface for beginners.
Compact body at 267g. 3-inch touchscreen — no viewfinder. Built-in flash. WiFi not included. Micro Four Thirds mount. Single SD card slot. Creative control modes for in-camera effects.
Very cheap used. The GF6 improved with WiFi and the GF7 added selfie screens. Any modern MFT camera is dramatically better. The 12.1MP and lack of WiFi feel dated. Only useful as a very cheap MFT body for existing lens owners.
