Panasonic's compact MFT camera with 12.1MP sensor and touchscreen — simple entry-level design.
The Panasonic Lumix GF5 was released in 2012 as the compact entry-level MFT body, featuring a 12MP Live MOS sensor. 1080i/60 video (also 1080p/30fps in MP4 format). No IBIS, no built-in EVF, no hotshoe. DMW-BLE9 battery. At approximately 267g with battery and card.
12MP Four Thirds Live MOS sensor. 1080i/60fps (AVCHD); 1080p/30fps (MP4 format also available). No IBIS. No EVF (no built-in and no hotshoe for external). DMW-BLE9 battery (7.2V, 940mAh). Approximately 267g with battery and card. Micro Four Thirds mount.
The GF5's primary position is the entry-level compact MFT body: lightweight, touchscreen-focused, and compatible with the full MFT lens ecosystem at minimal cost. The absence of IBIS and EVF reflects the GF5's position below the GX-series in the Panasonic lineup. 1080p/30fps is available via MP4 recording mode in addition to the interlaced AVCHD primary format.
On the used market the Panasonic Lumix GF5 is very affordable as a compact MFT entry-level body. Condition checks: DMW-BLE9 battery health, touchscreen function, AF response. No IBIS. No EVF. Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses.
