Panasonic's ultra-tiny MFT camera with built-in EVF — one of the smallest interchangeable-lens cameras ever.
The Panasonic Lumix GM5 was released in 2014 as the compact variant of the GM1 with a built-in electronic viewfinder — the smallest MFT camera with a built-in EVF at launch. 16MP Live MOS sensor. 1080/60fps video (no 4K). No IBIS. DMW-BLH7 battery (approximately 220 shots CIPA). At 211g with battery and card.
16MP Four Thirds Live MOS sensor. 1080p/60fps; 720p/60fps. No 4K. Built-in 1,166K-dot OLED EVF (0.46× magnification). No IBIS — lens OIS only. DMW-BLH7 battery (~220 shots CIPA — very small capacity). Approximately 211g with battery and card. Micro Four Thirds mount.
The GM5's built-in EVF distinguishes it from the GM1 in a minimal body size increase: the EVF enables eye-level composition in bright conditions where a rear LCD is difficult to read, making the GM5 more practical than the GM1 for outdoor use. The DMW-BLH7 battery's ~220-shot capacity means additional batteries are recommended for full-day use.
On the used market the Panasonic Lumix GM5 is affordable as a compact MFT body with EVF. Condition checks: DMW-BLH7 battery health (very small capacity), EVF display quality, AF response. No IBIS. No 4K. Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses.
