Panasonic's compact MFT with IBIS — 16MP with 5-axis stabilisation and 4K in rangefinder style.
The Panasonic Lumix GX80 was released approximately 2016 as a compact rangefinder-style Micro Four Thirds camera, introducing in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) at its price point. Also sold as the GX85 in North America. MFT mount.
16MP Micro Four Thirds sensor. 5-axis IBIS (Dual IS compatible with Dual IS-enabled lenses). 4K/30fps video. Tilting touchscreen LCD. No built-in EVF (optional external). At approximately 320g. Micro Four Thirds mount.
The GX80's IBIS at its price point was notable — providing shake reduction independent of lens OIS for lenses without stabilisation. Dual IS combines body IBIS with compatible lens OIS for enhanced stabilisation. The 16MP sensor without optical low-pass filter provides sharpness comparable to higher-resolution designs.
On the used market the Panasonic Lumix GX80 is an affordable compact MFT camera with IBIS. Condition checks: IBIS engagement (listen and test for stabiliser activation), tilting LCD hinge, MFT mount contacts, 4K recording function, battery health (DMW-BLG10).
