Panasonic's compact MFT with IBIS — 16MP with 5-axis stabilisation and 4K in rangefinder style.
The Panasonic Lumix GX80 (GX85 in some markets) launched in 2016 as a compact rangefinder-style MFT camera with 5-axis Dual I.S. stabilisation and 4K video. It removed the OLPF for maximum sharpness — a budget GX9.
The 16MP Live MOS sensor without OLPF delivers sharp MFT quality. 5-axis Dual I.S. provides excellent stabilisation. DFD contrast-detect AF. 4K 30p video. 8fps burst. Post Focus and Focus Stacking. L.Monochrome D mode for B&W.
Compact body at 426g. 3-inch tilting touchscreen. Built-in EVF. No weather sealing. WiFi. 4K Photo mode. The GX80 hit the sweet spot of features, size, and price for MFT enthusiasts.
Available used at budget to mid-range prices. The GX9 improved with tilting EVF and better LCD. The GX80 remains an excellent entry to MFT with IBIS and 4K. For budget MFT enthusiasts wanting stabilised compact shooting.
