Panasonic's ultra-wide starting kit zoom for L-Mount, covering 20-60mm.
The Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 was launched in 2020 as the kit lens for the Lumix S5. Its standout feature is the unusually wide 20mm starting point, providing dramatically more wide-angle coverage than the typical 24mm or 28mm kit zoom. At the same time it sacrifices telephoto reach, stopping at 60mm.
Optical quality is good for a kit lens with sharp performance across the range. The 20mm wide end is genuinely useful for landscape and interior photography. Weather sealing matches the S5 body. Build is compact and lightweight for a full-frame zoom. There is no optical stabilisation so it relies on body IBIS.
L-Mount compatible with Panasonic Lumix S, Leica SL, and Sigma fp bodies, 67mm filter thread. The 20mm wide end is this lens's unique selling point — no other full-frame kit zoom starts this wide. The Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN offers a faster aperture with less range.
Good value used. Check weather seals and zoom ring smoothness. The 20mm wide end makes this genuinely more useful than a standard 24-70mm for landscape and architecture. The limited 60mm telephoto end means many users pair it with a telephoto zoom.
