Pentax's first full-frame DSLR — 36.4MP with 5-axis IBIS, weather sealing, and Pixel Shift Resolution.
The Pentax K-1 launched in 2016 as Pentax's long-awaited first full-frame DSLR, featuring a 36.4MP CMOS sensor with 5-axis in-body stabilisation. It was a significant milestone for the Pentax K-mount system, finally offering full-frame capability to loyal Pentax users.
The 36.4MP sensor delivers excellent image quality with very good dynamic range. 5-axis SR II stabilisation works with every K-mount lens — even vintage manual-focus glass. Pixel Shift Resolution combines four exposures for 36.4MP detail with no Bayer interpolation. 33-point AF with 25 cross-type.
Magnesium alloy body with extensive weather sealing. Flexible tilt LCD with LED illumination. Dual SD card slots. GPS and electronic compass built in. Astrotracer uses GPS to track stars for long exposures. 925g body only. Pentax K mount — decades of compatible lenses.
Available used at mid-range prices — excellent value for full-frame. The K-1 II improved with Pixel Shift hand-held mode and slightly better high-ISO. Check for grip rubber peeling — a known issue. The massive K-mount lens compatibility is a unique advantage for existing Pentax users.
