Pentax's first full-frame DSLR — 36.4MP with 5-axis IBIS, weather sealing, and Pixel Shift Resolution.
The Pentax K-1 was released in 2016 as Ricoh's first full-frame Pentax K-mount DSLR, featuring a 36.4MP CMOS sensor without anti-aliasing filter, 5-axis SR II Shake Reduction IBIS, and full weather sealing including operation to -10°C. Pixel Shift Resolution via SR II enabled composited high-resolution capture. 4.4fps full-frame burst. D-LI90P battery (~760 shots). Approximately 925g body only.
36.4MP full-frame CMOS (no AA filter). 5-axis SR II IBIS approximately 5 stops. 4.4fps full-frame burst; 6.2fps in APS-C crop. 1080/60fps video. No weather sealing gaps — dustproof, weather-resistant, and cold-resistant to -10°C. D-LI90P battery (~760 shots). Body weight approximately 925g without battery. Pentax K-mount.
The K-1 is the sole modern full-frame body for the Pentax K lens ecosystem: the full-frame sensor provides the primary incentive for Pentax K-mount users to upgrade from APS-C, unlocking the full field of view of FA primes and other full-frame Pentax lenses. The SR II IBIS is sensor-shift-based, enabling stabilisation with any K-mount lens including manual focus and legacy glass.
On the used market the Pentax K-1 is affordable as a full-frame Pentax DSLR. Condition checks: shutter count via EXIF, D-LI90P battery health (specific to K-series high-end bodies), full weather sealing integrity. Compatible with all Pentax K-mount lenses including FA, DA, and DA* series.
