Pentax's compact aperture-priority SLR — the ME with auto exposure in the miniaturised M-series.
The Pentax ME is a compact aperture-priority 35mm film SLR from Pentax, released approximately 1976. One of the world's smallest 35mm SLRs at its launch, prioritising compact dimensions with automatic exposure only (no full manual mode). Pentax K mount.
35mm film SLR. Aperture-priority automatic exposure (no full manual — only Auto and 1/100s flash speed). Center-weighted TTL metering. LED viewfinder display. Battery-dependent. At approximately 400g. Pentax K mount.
The ME was designed for the smallest possible body — one of the world's most compact 35mm SLRs in 1976. The deliberate omission of full manual mode is its main limitation for serious use. Compatible with all Pentax K-mount lenses. Part of Pentax's 'compact series' alongside the MX and ME Super.
On the used market the Pentax ME is a compact classic film SLR. Condition checks: aperture-priority AE operation (test at multiple apertures), shutter at all speeds, battery dependency, advance lever. Pentax K mount.
