Pentax's compact aperture-priority SLR — the ME with auto exposure in the miniaturised M-series.
The Pentax ME launched in 1976 as one of the most compact SLRs ever made — aperture-priority auto exposure only in the miniaturised M-series body. It made automatic SLR photography accessible in an incredibly small package.
Aperture-priority auto exposure only — no manual exposure mode (the ME Super later added manual). The ME prioritised simplicity and compactness. K-mount — all K-mount lenses work. Compact M-series body.
Pentax K mount. Very compact M-series body. Aperture-priority only — no manual. LED metering in viewfinder. The ME was one of the smallest SLRs made — lighter than most 35mm compacts.
Available used very cheaply. The ME Super adds manual exposure — generally preferred. The ME's auto-only limits creative control. For those wanting the most compact K-mount SLR with auto exposure. Check for working electronics.
