Pentax's classic M42/K-mount 135mm telephoto — SMC coated manual prime for film photography.
The Pentax SMC 135mm f/3.5 is a manual-focus telephoto prime from Pentax's film era, available in both M42 screw-mount and K-mount bayonet versions. The SMC (Super Multi Coating) provides improved contrast and flare resistance over earlier versions.
Optically good — sharp from f/5.6 with the 135mm providing useful telephoto compression for portraits and distant subjects. SMC coating delivers good contrast. Manual focus with smooth helicoid. The f/3.5 aperture is moderate for 135mm.
Pentax K or M42 mount depending on version. 49mm filter thread — compact. Approximately 380g — lightweight for 135mm. Manual focus and aperture. Metal construction. Full-frame coverage.
Available used very cheaply. The K-mount version works on modern Pentax DSLRs in manual mode. The M42 version adapts to all mirrorless cameras. SMC coating is worthwhile over non-SMC. For vintage lens enthusiasts and budget film telephoto use.
