The Praktica DCZ 6.2 is a compact digital camera from Praktica's DCZ line, a series of budget point-and-shoot cameras the German-heritage brand sold across Europe in the mid-2000s as digital compacts replaced film cameras on the high street.
It carries a 6.1-megapixel CCD sensor on a 1/2.5-inch chip, with an interpolation mode up to 8 megapixels. The fixed lens gives 3x optical zoom plus up to 5x digital zoom, framed on a 2.0-inch TFT colour screen. Roughly 16MB of built-in memory is fitted, expandable via memory card, and the camera runs on AA batteries.
The CCD sensor and true optical zoom lift the DCZ 6.2 above simpler digital-only-zoom Praktica models, giving more usable framing flexibility, though output resolution and low-light performance remain modest by later standards.
Used examples turn up cheaply on UK auction sites, typically sold as tested-working compacts. Worth checking the zoom lens barrel for grinding or jamming, confirming the battery door clip is intact, and testing the LCD for dead pixels before buying.
