Praktica Luxmedia Z250 — 20MP CCD compact with 5x optical zoom and image stabilisation
The Praktica Luxmedia Z250 is a compact digital camera from Praktica's Luxmedia range, a later generation of budget point-and-shoot models sold through UK electronics and office-supply retailers as CCD-sensor compacts neared the end of their production run.
It has a 20-megapixel CCD sensor on a 1/2.3-inch chip behind a 5x optical zoom lens equivalent to roughly 26-130mm, with an aperture of f/3.2-6.4 and optical image stabilisation. Composition uses a 2.7-inch LCD screen, video records at 720p30, and 64MB of internal memory is backed by an SDHC card slot. The body weighs about 162g.
Compared with earlier Praktica Luxmedia and DCZ compacts, the Z250 packs far higher pixel counts and image stabilisation onto a similarly small sensor, so detail on paper outstrips real-world sharpness once pixel density and diffraction are considered.
It appears regularly in used listings from UK sellers including former retail stock. Check that the optical image stabilisation engages, that the SDHC slot reads modern cards reliably, and that the plastic battery door latch has not cracked, a common wear point.
