Rodenstock's specialist Rodagon — the 35mm for subminiature/half-frame enlarging.
The Rodagon 35mm f/4 is a short focal length enlarging lens designed for 35mm negatives at maximum enlargement ratios, or for sub-35mm negative formats. Rodenstock's multi-coating ensures colour neutrality even at the extreme geometry of very large enlargements from a small negative.
35mm focal length, f/4 maximum aperture, Rodenstock multi-coated, M39 thread mount.
Short focal length enlarging lenses allow very large prints from 35mm negatives without requiring extreme column height. The f/4 aperture aids focusing. Less commonly needed than the 50mm but valuable for specialist large-print work. Very few equivalents exist at this focal length.
Inspect for haze and fungus; short-focal-length lenses used at high ratios require excellent optical condition for acceptable sharpness at large print sizes. Check M39 thread and aperture blades.
