Rodenstock's compact Rodagon — the 50mm f/5.6 budget version of the premium enlarging lens.
The f/5.6 maximum aperture variant of the Rodagon 50mm is less common than the f/2.8 version and represents a budget alternative within the Rodagon range. Rodenstock's multi-coating is retained, maintaining the colour fidelity of the full range, but the reduced aperture makes focusing under the enlarger more demanding.
50mm focal length, f/5.6 maximum aperture, Rodenstock multi-coated, M39 thread mount.
For users where cost is a higher priority than focusing convenience, the f/5.6 version delivers Rodagon optical quality at reduced price. Image quality at f/8 is equivalent to the f/2.8 version. The slow aperture projected image requires a brighter light source for comfortable focusing.
Inspect for fungus, haze, and coating condition. Aperture blades should be clean. Check M39 thread.
