Rolleiflex's economy TLR — Tessar f/3.5 taking lens in classic 6x6 twin-lens design.
The Rolleiflex T launched in 1958 as a more affordable version of the Rolleiflex, using a Carl Zeiss Tessar 75mm f/3.5 taking lens. It maintained the classic Rolleiflex TLR design with a slightly simpler specification than the 2.8 models.
The Zeiss Tessar f/3.5 delivers good image quality — sharp and contrasty. The 75mm on 6x6 provides approximately a normal perspective. Fixed lens — no interchangeable optics. Crank film advance. Waist-level finder with flip-up magnifier.
6x6cm on 120 film. Fixed Zeiss Tessar 75mm f/3.5 taking lens. Synchro-Compur leaf shutter. Waist-level finder. Crank film advance. Built-in light meter on some versions. The T was positioned below the 2.8F in the range.
Available used at mid-range prices. The Tessar f/3.5 is a good lens — sharp and reliable. The 2.8F with Planar f/2.8 is optically superior. The Rolleiflex T offers the classic TLR experience at a more accessible price. Check for clean viewing lens and accurate shutter speeds.
