Rolleiflex's economy TLR — Tessar f/3.5 taking lens in classic 6x6 twin-lens design.
The Rolleiflex T is a 6×6cm twin-lens reflex medium-format camera featuring either a Carl Zeiss Tessar 75mm f/3.5 or Schneider Xenar 75mm f/3.5 taking lens, released approximately 1958. Fixed non-interchangeable lens pair (viewing + taking). 6×6cm format. Waist-level finder.
6×6cm (56×56mm). Fixed twin-lens design: Zeiss Tessar 75mm f/3.5 or Schneider Xenar 75mm f/3.5 (variants by production run). Coupled Compur leaf shutter. Waist-level finder. Rolleinar accessory close-up lenses. 120 film. No built-in meter.
The Rolleiflex T is the budget sibling of the Rolleiflex 3.5F/2.8F professional models: the T uses the Tessar or Xenar formula rather than the Planar or Xenotar of the professional models, at a lower price. The waist-level viewing at 6×6cm provides a distinctive square-format composition experience. Rolleiflex TLRs were used extensively in professional portrait and fashion photography of the era.
On the used market the Rolleiflex T is affordable as a classic medium-format TLR. Condition checks: both taking and viewing lens elements for fungus and marks, shutter speeds (all must fire), film transport, foam seals.
