Rolleiflex T updated version — Type 2 with minor refinements to the economy TLR.
The Rolleiflex T Type 2 is the second-version Rolleiflex T 6×6cm twin-lens reflex, updated from the Type 1 with a light meter and minor mechanical improvements. Fixed Zeiss Tessar or Schneider Xenar 75mm f/3.5. Waist-level finder. 6×6cm format.
6×6cm (56×56mm). Fixed Zeiss Tessar or Schneider Xenar 75mm f/3.5. Built-in uncoupled selenium meter (Type 2 addition). Compur leaf shutter. Waist-level finder. 120 film.
The Type 2 distinguishes from the Type 1 Rolleiflex T primarily by the addition of an uncoupled selenium exposure meter: the meter provides a light reading which the photographer manually transfers to the aperture and shutter settings (not coupled to the exposure controls). The fixed Tessar/Xenar taking lens formula is shared across T versions.
On the used market the Rolleiflex T Type 2 is affordable as a classic medium-format TLR with selenium meter. Condition checks: lens elements for fungus, selenium meter responsiveness (meters degrade with age), shutter function, film transport.
