Samsung's 2009 entry-level 12.2MP compact — 3x zoom f/3.2-5.8, ES60/SL105 sibling sold as ES63 in the UK.
The ES63 was a regional variant of Samsung's ES60, a budget point-and-shoot from 2009 in the entry-level ES series that sat below the ST and WB lines. The same camera was sold as the SL105 in North America, and Samsung's manuals cover the ES60 and ES63 together. UK eBay sellers commonly list it under the ES63 name, which also carried its own Samsung UK product code (EC-ES63).
It used a 12.2-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CCD behind a Samsung 3x zoom of 6.3-18.9mm with a maximum aperture of f/3.2-5.8. Sensitivity ran from ISO 80 to 1600, and macro focusing reached down to about 1cm at the wide end against 0.8m in normal mode. The metal-skinned body was offered in several colours including black, silver, red, pink and olive. It was a fully automatic camera with digital rather than optical image stabilisation.
As one of Samsung's cheapest compacts of its year, the ES63 suits casual snapshot shooters and buyers picking up an inexpensive CCD compact for its colour rendering rather than anyone needing zoom reach or manual control. The small body is pocketable, but the slow lens and modest ISO ceiling limit low-light work without flash.
On the used market these sell very cheaply and often without box or charger, so confirm a working battery and charging arrangement is included before buying. Check the lens extends cleanly, the screen is free of pressure marks, and the model badge matches the listing, since ES60, ES63 and SL105 stock photos are frequently mixed up by sellers. Function-test the flash, as charge time lengthens on tired examples.
