Manual focus wide-angle prime lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.
The Samyang 24mm f/1.5 UMC II is a manual-focus ultra-wide prime for Micro Four Thirds, equivalent to approximately 48mm full-frame on MFT's 2x crop. The UMC II (Ultra Multi Coating II) generation offers improved flare and ghost control. Designed primarily for video and cinematic use where manual aperture and focus control are standard workflow.
24mm focal length (≈48mm FF equiv on MFT), f/1.5 maximum aperture, manual focus only, UMC II multicoating, Micro Four Thirds mount, 15 elements in 11 groups, de-clicked aperture ring available, no electronic contacts.
At f/1.5 on MFT, the effective depth-of-field approximates f/3 on full-frame — still visibly shallow but less extreme than the raw aperture suggests. The high element count of 15 elements is significant for a 24mm prime and reflects the optical correction required for the fast aperture. The manual-only operation and no-electronics design positions this as a dedicated video lens. No IS signal to in-body stabilisation — IBIS operates in lens-unaware mode.
Check manual focus smoothness and infinity stop accuracy. Inspect UMC coating for cleaning marks. Test aperture ring for smoothness and detent engagement. Verify no optical decentering (shoot flat-field charts at f/1.5). No AF — confirm manual focus workflow is compatible with intended use.
